£4M Windows and Doors Project Given to Forrest

The Preston-headquartered regeneration-specialist, Forrest, was awarded a £4M project to replace all the windows and doors of homes of West Lancashire Borough Council.

This new uPVC windows and doors project is the first stage of the Council’s £60M investment programme. According to the scheme, every home in West Lancashire council will be fitted with new uPVC double glazed windows. The project started last year and is expected to be finished by Christmas 2012.

Chief executive at Forrest, Lee McCarren said: "We've been working with West Lancashire Borough Council for many years and their commitment to regeneration projects like this is exemplary."

Apart from the new windows and doors, Forrest is also creating new opportunities for the locals of the area through apprenticeship and trainee roles for a number of experienced window and door fitters to fulfil the contract.

The portfolio holder for housing, regeneration, and estates Councillor Adrian Owens said, "The contracted works will also provide employment opportunities for local people, including apprenticeship and trainee vacancies."

In addition to that, he : "The decision to invest in replacement windows and doors was made in agreement with tenants and was identified as a priority for improvement following a comprehensive stock survey.

"This scheme will benefit the tenants greatly as not only will it help make their homes more comfortable and smart it may reduce their heating bills.

The social housing contractor works across the North of England and undertakes planned maintenance programmes in approximately 21,500 homes every year including roofing and kitchen and bathroom installations.
